Finding Local Senior Groups
Seniors centres, library programs, walking groups and clubs: how to find what is running in your own community.
Start with your seniors centre
Almost every Canadian city and town has a seniors centre or an active living centre, usually run by the municipality or a local nonprofit. Membership is inexpensive, and the calendar usually includes fitness classes, lunches, cards, crafts and day trips.
Libraries are the other hub
Public libraries run book clubs, tech help sessions, film afternoons and lecture series, nearly all of it free with a library card.
Walking and hobby groups
Local walking groups, lawn bowling, pickleball and gardening clubs welcome beginners and are one of the easiest ways to meet people. Your municipal recreation guide lists most of them, including senior rates.
